Manuel L. “Manny” Soliz,
Jr.
Businessman – Investment Manager
I have a solid record of experience and action.
My community involvement includes: Antioch City Council, charities,
and service organizations.
Antioch Schools & Mello-Roos. I have a 100%
commitment to our schools. As a member of the City Council I
served on the Mello-Roos Board. We successfully hammered out
an agreement between the Antioch School District and the City
to reduce the Mello-Roos debt by $15 million and the pay back
period by nine years. I am a member of Antioch Music Foundation,
City Park Playground Project, co-founder of the Delta Blues
Festival, and the Chamber of Commerce.
Transportation/Jobs/Growth/Police. As a member
of the City Council, I fully supported Slatten Ranch and other
similar projects. I am proud of the fact that as the State was
taking away revenues, Antioch was benefiting from a growing
business tax base, allowing us to hire 22 additional police
officers. I supported the two year moratorium on building new
homes and helped in the lobbying effort for Congressional approval
of $37 million to widen Highway 4.
Preserving Antioch History. I am currently working
with others to preserve some of Antioch’s historical sites,
including: Black Diamond Mines, Women’s Club, and the
Chinese Tunnels in Old Rivertown Business District.
Education. I earned my Bachelor’s degree
in Economics at Stanford University.
Manny’s Commitment to Antioch’s
Future. I grew up in Antioch and went to school here. I believe
that America’s greatest leaders were also America’s
greatest listeners. If you call me at my home, I will listen
– 778-1573.
